Lub dub

I am so bored in our cardio workshop. We are listening to Harvey, the heart sounds simulator. Too bad they all sound the same to me.

In other news, this morning I did twenty practice questions over cardio on USMLE World. I high failed with a 65%! Woohoo. lol. I guess that is not bad considering yesterday was my first real day of Step studying. And the average for that question set was a 54%.

Not looking forward to class till 4. Then probably more studying. I think I will go crazy after awhile lol. We should get our NBME grades back probably today or tomorrow from the last block, multi system disorders and cancer. If I did well, perhaps I will buy myself Doctor Who Season 5 HD on iTunes for when I need a break. :]

CURRENT STUDY MUSIC: nothing, or Harvey's heart sounds (normal or not?????)
FACT OF THE DAY (or for this post): In mitral stenosis you hear an opening snap.

Journey to Step 1: Day 1

Well, here I am at Starbucks at 9:38pm. I migrated here because I was falling asleep at school. After reading a little about endocarditis, I created this blog because I am tired of studying today. Too bad it is what I must do for the next six months. :[

I deactivated Facebook in hopes of saving valuable time. Trying to do well in my classes AND find time to study for Step 1 will likely be a challenge-- in fact, it is already proving to be! Since I no longer have Facebook as an outlet for my many med-school-related frustrations, I figured, why not create a blog and chronicle the nightmare that lies ahead? Surely it will be comical after the exam is finished (provided my score is decent... otherwise it will just be tragic).

I bought an app, sort of on a whim, in class today called CramFighter. It creates a Step 1 study schedule for you in minutes! Sadly, it was $10, but I think it was worth it. However, I had wanted to finish reviewing everything by CBSE time in March, and even though I put a 2-hour-a-day limit on studying, the app is scheduling me for 100+ pages a day. I tried following the schedule for today and I got about 30 pages done... lol.

Anyway, here's to not burning out....!
